Endodontics
Caries is a destructive process that attacks the hard tissues of the teeth. It starts at the surface layer (enamel) and, if left untreated, quickly spreads to the next layer (dentine), eventually attacking the tissue inside the teeth (pulp) and causing infection at this level.

In such situations endodontics is used to remove the dental pulp and the infection inside it when the bacteria causing the caries penetrate inside the tooth. In removing the dental pulp we are also removing the tooth’s nerves and blood vessels, leaving it lifeless and insensitive. Subsequently, the pulp chamber is filled three-dimensionally with a special material to give the root strength. Finally, the crown is restored with a filling, inlay, or onlay, depending on the extent of the destruction.
