Post-op. Instructions.

For prompt, correct scar tissue formation of the bone around the implants, it is essential for you to follow these instructions throughout the first two weeks after the procedure.

  • » For the first six days after surgery, limit yourself to liquids or very soft foods (purées, French omelets, custards, yoghurts, ice cream, etc.). This will prevent food remains from affecting the wound.
  • » You must not drink, do sport or smoke.
  • » Take the medication we have indicated. If not, you must let us know immediately.
  • »For the first few nights after the procedure, you should use an extra pillow when in bed to elevate the level of your head to avoid the possibility of swelling. Never apply heat over the area operated on. Likewise, do not put your hand to your face, etc.
  • » If we indicate you should do so, put an ice pack on your face intermittently (5 min on – 5 min off) for the period we indicate.
  • » The wound may bleed slightly. If so, place a roll of sterile gauze over it, pressing for 15 – 30 minutes. If it continues bleeding after this, get in touch with us.
  • » After each meal, rinse your mouth with physiological saline solution or salty water. Do not use oral antiseptics or mouthwashes in the first 48 hours. Two days after the operation, you should begin rinsing with a mouthwash containing chlorhexidine.
  • » If you feel pain or have a slight discomfort, take the medication indicated.
  • » It is a good idea to put moisturizing cream on your face and use a lip repair balm.

It is very important for you to follow all the indications your doctor gives you. The final result will depend to a great extent on these treatments and your collaboration.
